Exit: Basic Human Needs

Wouldn’t it be neat If the people you meet Had shoes upon their feet And something to eat? And wouldn’t it be fine If all humankind had shelter?

Basic human needs, basic human deeds [...] And wouldn’t it be grand If we all would lend a hand So each one could stand on a free piece of land? And wouldn’t it be thrilling If folks stopped their killing? And started in tilling the land?

Basic human needs, basic human deeds [...] What a great day it would be If everyone could see If no one was blind unnecessarily; Cause it’s hard, yes it’s hard to be blind—and disabled.

Basic human needs, basic human deeds [...] And wouldn’t it be daring If folks started sharing, instead of comparing What each other was wearing And wouldn’t it be swell If people didn’t sell their mother Earth.

Basic human needs, basic human deeds Doing what comes naturally Down in the garden where no one is apart Deep down in the garden, the garden of your heart.

Helping people Help yourself And work out ’till the stars begin to shout Oh thank god for something to do…

The Second Coming!

Exit: Sword of Moonlight 2.o

So I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel for something to say about September. And so this is going to be Part 2 (a follow-up) of Sword of Moonlight 2.0 from back in July.

Update. There has been little in the way of adoption since July. In fact, I only received feedback from one person back in late August. But even a little feedback can make a big difference. Case in point, it turned out that there was plenty of room for improvements; which were made public during the early weeks of September. The patches mainly concerned aspects of the integrated development environment (ie. the tools) that had been overlooked and the auto update framework.

For the rest of September I have focused slavishly upon “Sword of Moonlight Press” stuff. Or that is, the site within this site that you get to by logging in via the login link in the right hand column of this page you are reading! Oh and by the way, it is now possible to login without registering via a shared Guest Login account – which is encouraged, if you do not require an identity in the website database for anything.

Still there remains much work to be done. If however you do login (on a good day) amongst other stuff you can now find a custom designed and feature rich file browser (game pieces coming soon) in the new “Data Space” area which makes use of a nifty database of the Sword of Moonlight files collected here; published by Sword of Moonlight Press participants.

Check it out. Involve yourself. Help make making good games an easy thing for everyone to do.

A hand is a terrible thing to waste.

Exit: Die Roboter

Ok, if not for nothing to pin a tail on August has been an exceptionally eventful month; but instead of sounding off on this and that, I would like to take this time to highlight a heartwarming story.

As you may have heard, earlier in August the Master of Arena part models were for the first time shown the light of day after being filed away more than a decade ago. While they are slowly recuperating and acclimating to life on the outside we are taking steps to prepare for them a loving home here with Sword of Moonlight…

And so we are very much in need of volunteers to put names and faces to each and every precious one. All you need is a computer and PlayStation gen Armored Core game disc in order to start lending a helping hand.

or: How I Decided to Eschew the Gonzo

Exit: Sword of Moonlight 2.o

For my July blog post, throughout August, i.e. this post, for clarity I am suspending the so far short-form gonzo format, on behalf of current and potential users of Sword of Moonlight, in order to better explain how it is that the days of Sword of Moonlight as a substandard product are technically behind us and will be effectively drawing to an end within a matter of months.

I have labored throughout July in order to fill out the website as well as I was able. Writing things is not my first love, or strongest suit, so please bear with me. Within the website’s new pages you will learn that the state of the art for Sword of Moonlight is basically a two part deal at this point. On one hand Ex is needed to remedy the many maladies Sword of Moonlight is afflicted with, and on the other, the data files that accompany Ex are so far identical to what From Software left Sword of Moonlight – which everyone well knows are pretty much inadequate.

Therefore, if you are ready to get on board with progress, you will be effectively installing two separate sets of Sword of Moonlight files. Unfortunately this site cannot currently help you out with the first set, which should include the data files you intend to use with your final setup. The second install will include Ex. There are now instructions in the site, in the Ex / Getting Started pages. Once Ex is installed, you can make it the go to install for your Windows user account by running the install scripts that come with Ex. Then you can configure Ex to look in the data folder of the first install.

If you’ve done everything correctly, all of the problems with Sword of Moonlight that you are accustomed to, or have heard of, and many which you are probably unaware of will magically be gone. And once your problems are all gone, you can start thinking about the many different, and ever expanding, ways to extend Sword of Moonlight that are offered by Ex.

Finally, I realize this post is inadequate. If you have questions, by all means leave a response or use the Forum Discussion link below. Rest assured your questions will be addressed.

Holy matrimony, Batman!

Exit: Moonlight - Vista

While many were expecting a May December affair guests were invited to enjoy a traditional June wedding. Everyone who’s anyone was in attendance.

Sword of Moonlight debuted in Japan a decade ago only to travel abroad nearly a decade later. Sword credited its international following when asked about its much overdue recognition, saying, “the future is in their hands.”

Microsoft Vista needs no introduction. With fans few and far between its family’s influence remains ubiquitous. Time was all that stood between the star crossed lovers as they walked down the aisle that fateful day.

Despite both being longtime residents of the metro area, the couple traveled out of state in order to tie the knot; as software-software marriage is not recognized in 43 states of the union.

Asked who will wear the pants in their home, Microsoft deferred to Sword. Sword had no comment.
